Intraday Management: End-of-day review
Objective. Close the intraday loop by comparing what was projected and decided against what actually happened, and read the result as learning rather than blame.
The end-of-day review is the step that closes the detect - decide - act - review loop: it sets the day's logged decisions and their projections against the actual outcome, so the operation learns which interventions truly worked.

What this screen answers
'Did what we decided today actually work, and what do we learn for tomorrow?' This is where the decision loop gains a memory. By comparing the projected effect of each logged action against the actual result, the review turns a day of judgement calls into evidence about which interventions hold - the single step that stops the business repeating the same bad days.
The task
At shift end, walk the day's logged decisions against actuals: for each action, what was projected, what was executed, and what the queue, coverage and backlog actually did. For a CSM, make this a standing routine paired with the action log - a short, regular review builds the trust and the learning that a single impressive simulation never will. Capture what to repeat and what to change.
How to read it
Separate the three things that are easy to collapse: the projection (what the what-if expected), the execution (whether the action was actually carried out), and the outcome (what the service and backlog actually did). A projection that missed is not automatically a bad decision - arrivals or execution may have differed from assumptions. Read the review to learn, not to assign blame, and remember the service outcome is the customer's to own and baseline; IDM evidences the decision quality, it does not deliver the number.
Honest limits
The review compares and evidences; it does not prove IDM caused the outcome, because many factors move a day. Whether actual outcomes feed back automatically, and the freshness of that data, is production-dependent - confirm with product and use the customer's own baseline. Exact review fields, how variance is shown and the demo figures are SME-validation-pending.
Interpretation check
Keep projection, execution and outcome separate - a projection that missed is not proof of a bad decision, and a good outcome is not proof IDM caused it. The review is for learning and evidencing decision quality, not blame or attribution.
In the field
KnackGlobal (RCM): a daily review of 'what we projected vs what the claim queue actually did' is how a ~6,000-seat operation learns which intraday fixes protect filing deadlines - the evidence is the decision quality, not a promised service number.
Practical task
On the demo, take one logged action, lay out its projection, whether it was executed, and the actual outcome, and write a two-line learning note: repeat or change, and why - without attributing the service number to IDM.
Self-check
An action's projected +5 percent coverage but the day still finished under. Was the decision wrong?
Not necessarily. Arrivals, absence or execution may have differed from the assumptions. Separate projection from execution from outcome before judging - the review is for learning, not blame.
The day finished on target. Can the CSM claim IDM delivered that result?
No. The outcome is the customer's to own and is affected by many factors. IDM evidences the quality and speed of the decision; the service number must be baselined, not attributed to IDM.
What three things must the review hold apart for each logged action?
The projection (what the what-if expected), the execution (whether the action was actually carried out), and the outcome (what service and backlog actually did). Collapsing them produces false conclusions.
Why is a regular end-of-day review worth more than one impressive simulation?
It gives the decision loop a durable memory and builds customer trust through evidence - the operation learns which interventions hold. A single simulation proves nothing about what actually works.
