Work Output: AI impact and ROI

Objective. Read the AI impact and ROI view as an opportunity estimate under stated assumptions - a projection, never a realised result or booked cash.

This screen answers 'what might improve, and what could it be worth?' It is the most persuasive and most misusable screen in the app: a projection is a scenario, and the discipline is to keep projected opportunity firmly separate from realised, verified outcome.

What this screen answers

Sales uses AI impact and ROI to size a prize and build a value hypothesis; CSMs use it to prioritise where improvement effort could pay off. The customer question is 'where is the opportunity, and roughly what scale?' The honest framing is that this is a modelled estimate to test, not a number to bank.

The task

Scope to the area you are discussing and read the estimate together with its assumptions - what it assumes about volume, rate, recoverable share and the baseline. Use it to frame a testable hypothesis and a pilot, not a guarantee. For a CSM building a business review, the task is to replace the demo's assumptions with the customer's own baseline before any figure is quoted, and to label it a projection every time it appears.

How to read it

A projection or AI-impact estimate is not a realised result - this is the rule that governs the whole screen. The classic misread is lifting an ROI figure into a slide as if it were achieved value or booked cash. It is opportunity under assumptions, and opportunity is not cash: capacity freed is not money collected, and an estimate is not a measured before-and-after. Change an assumption and the number changes, so the assumptions are the real content, not the headline figure.

Honest limits

This screen proves nothing about realised outcomes and must never be presented as entitlement or a commitment. The demo's assumptions are seeded. Confirm the model's logic with product, rebuild it on the customer's own baseline, and only claim value once it has been measured and verified elsewhere - the improvements and cost screens, and the customer's finance view, are where realisation is established, not here.

Interpretation check

A projection or AI-impact estimate is opportunity under stated assumptions, not a realised result or booked cash; the assumptions are the content, and realised value must be measured and verified elsewhere, never claimed from this screen.

In the field

For KnackGlobal, AI impact sizes the cost-per-clean-claim prize to justify a pilot - but the win is claimed only from measured post-pilot cost, never from this projection.

Practical task

Pick one opportunity area, list the assumptions behind the estimate, and write a two-line finding that states the projected opportunity and exactly what would have to be measured to call any of it realised.

Self-check

A rep wants to put the ROI figure on a proposal as expected savings. What is wrong?

It is a projection under assumptions, not realised or booked value. It must be labelled an estimate, rebuilt on the customer's baseline, and only claimed as value once measured and verified. Opportunity is not cash.

Why are the assumptions more important than the headline number?

Change an assumption - volume, rate, recoverable share, baseline - and the figure moves. The number is only as good as the assumptions, so those are what you validate and expose.

Where is value actually realised, if not here?

In measured before-and-after on improvements and cost, and ultimately in the customer's own finance view - this screen only sizes the opportunity.

Verified vs demo. Screen is live in the demo at https://work-output.demo.timechamp.io/#/ai; exact controls, labels and on-screen figures are SME-validation-pending.
